How to get to rear speakers on a 90 Toyota Corolla?

-It appears I have to take out the back seat. Is that true? I don't see any screws on the black speaker covers and they don't seem to want to pop out. If I have to remove the back seat, how do I get it out? This is a factory stereo and speaker system.
